But today, with man's greediness, our planet Earth has now become "a deadly ground "due to many inventions that cause monstrous pollution. The advent of the deadly pandemic brought by coronavirus/Covid-19 shrouded the whole Earth at present, and it has caused volatility which even led to the death toll in millions. This crisis has affected and tottered not only economic activities among nations but educational activities as well. (Read the full article here)

Teachers place importance on the skills of notetaking and listening and believe that students should have these skills to be successful in class (Boyle, 2010). In connection, retention of knowledge for life-long learning and for assessment and note-taking can help students as they reach this goal. Notes “provide students with tools for identifying and understanding the most important aspects of what they are learning” (Marzano, Pickering, & Pollock, 2001). Students who take notes typically retain more information than those who do not, which has a positive effect on learning (Titsworth, 2001). Hence, this study utilized the Cornell Method of note taking to improve the academic performance of the students in science. (Read the full article here)

A key to attaining educational success is to build a stable management foundation.

Education management employs a variety of strategies that include correct etiquette, diversity, and adaptability. Depending on the educational system in a certain institution, each management approach can be used. Without adequate execution, these strategies would be ineffective. The efficacy of educational management is best judged when facts are supplied that shows that, despite the problems, a certain management style satisfies the needs of educational systems. Furthermore, having a clear and motivating aim motivates everyone at the institution to work hard. If a company does not set goals for its employees, it is almost certain that they will be disappointed. Diverse Leadership Style for Educational Success in the New Normal

Kathleen Ann P. Tavisora

Leadership and management are two very distinct things, but they both play a crucial part in a school's destiny. Management must identify a dependable leader in order to achieve stability and progress. Being a leader in educational administration can be thought of as a persuasion process based on well-defined beliefs and ideas. A competent leader can motivate everyone in the school to attain their full potential. Meanwhile, without management, every employee will become unorganized and random. This is because finding a group of people working to ensure the organization's continued success gives school personnel a sense of security. (Read the full article here)

School Leaders: Building Unity Among Teachers

Hazel Jane C. Cortez

San Antonio, Gerona, Tarlac

For an organization to work, it requires a set of people who will work together to accomplish the goals and vision of the team. This does not differ in the educational setting as a school leader will need his teachers to function together and collaborate smoothly. Improving school leadership is high on the priority list for educational reform, but its impact and importance to teachers also play a vital role in the school.

Good leadership falls both within and outside of the principal's authority. As a result, school leaders should engage with their teachers in collaborative efforts to enhance the school. The collaboration between a school leader and its teachers is important for teachers' learning, instructional practice, and academic success. But what If there will be no school leader to guide the teachers? Will the school stay the same?

The brief answer would be no. School leaders are appointed and assigned for a lot of reasons. They are important not just for the goals of the school organization but also for the teachers. This is because, without their presence and authority, there will be no joint teamwork between the teachers. Their existence itself exudes the aura of binding the whole team together. When teamwork is absent in the school setting, it will result in little professional growth. While teachers may have their abilities and skills, they still do not hold the authority of making decisions for themselves. Hence, school leaders are the instruments in providing necessary support and guidance for a comfortable workplace to be effective.

Moreover, research says that school leaders have an indirect and direct effect on the achievements of their teachers through their influence and the way they lead them. An effective school leader is also a great influencer and a great mentor. They make sure that not only them gets recognition, but also the teachers who are deserving and who attained a great level of development in their career.

Leadership is commonly seen as an organizational construct wherein they stand at the top with their people following them. Principals specifically play a central role in the collaboration of their teachers. Overall, using instructional educational leadership encourages not just ca teamwork for the organization but also highlights the importance of having a school leader or a principal to the school. Their presence should be regarded as a blessing because they will always hold the team together. No matter what happens.

Educational Leadership for all Generations and Situations

May G. De Jesus

Brgy. Suizo, Tarlac City

School leadership has its type and kind depending on what was the focus of their job. Educational leaders are flexible enough to think critically when the time has come. Their minds and body are the keys to making sure that the school organization will flourish and will continue to do so even if challenges and difficulties come their way. With that, in this article, we should expand our knowledge about one of the types of leadership known as situational leadership.

The impact of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic has allowed schools, leaders, and teachers to experience a lot of things. No one anticipated this crisis, and no one was prepared. Hence, to make sure that this would not happen again, school leaders must be advanced in making sure that all is well and prepared for when another crisis involves their organization again.

Under situational leadership lies four leadership styles including directing, guiding, supporting, and delegating. According to the definition, the situational leadership theory suggests that the leadership style of the school principal should change as the readiness levels of teachers to perform a specific task change. This means that whatever barriers may come to hinder the operation, they will have some weapon to combat it and continue as if nothing happened.

Furthermore, school principals or leaders should learn how to adopt a directing leadership style for teachers with low readiness, as well as this will serve as a guiding leadership style for teachers and other staff with low to moderate readiness, and a supporting leadership style for teachers with moderate to high readiness, lastly, to serve a delegating leadership style for teachers with high readiness. Readiness should always be accompanied by a good leader who will always make sure that the plans will proceed smoothly and effectively.

To prove this point, situational leadership has been proven to be effective by a lot of organizations. However, this is especially important now that we have experienced the wrath of coming unprepared to a battle because this leadership style is most appropriate for organizations that frequently deal with unpredictable emergencies such as hospitals. But due to unforeseen events, the department of education should also apply this type of leadership style because they must constantly revise their approaches and tactics based on the personalities and strengths of the teachers. In that way, the leader can assign the most appropriate task for every one of them and utilize their skills correctly.

Significance of Educational Leadership To Its Stakeholders

Manami Villanueva

Brgy. Maliwalo, Tarlac City

Educational leadership was implemented in school not just to complete an ordinary role. They are incorporated to take over a huge responsibility. Absence or failure in it is a failure in the entire educational system. If one school leader fails, one school will be turned down, thousands of teachers will lose their jobs, millions of dreamers will be demotivated and billions of life will suffer. A single mistake can branch out to larger damage. With that school, leaders take a careful step-by-step process. Support your school leaders for their role comes with bundles of benefits.

Educational leadership will be a great benefit for:

Ø  TEACHERS

Schools provide students with the best opportunities to improve their skills, knowledge, and personalities. Mentors can also help dreamers realize their potential, especially when they are on the edge of giving up. It is the responsibility of school leaders to mandate and ensure that the needs of both instructors and pupils are met. Teachers' discontent is strongly linked to the focus on test results. To relieve teachers of their onerous workloads, school leaders must establish a clear path for mentorship.

They help deliver quality education by supplementing proper resources, time, and effort. Fulfilling this job will have a significant impact on the mentoring component of the school. Most of the schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) have one teacher is to fifty students. Educational leadership supports and supplements the need of delivering mentorship.

Ø  STUDENTS

Several research found out that educational leadership will impact the students' performance and achievements. In a variety of educational leadership styles, distributive and transformational leadership had the most extensive effect on students across leadership types. Educational leaders build a smoother bridge for the students to reach their goals in life. The primary source of success of educational leaders is their ability to produce millions of victories from their students. Students are like seeds when they initially enter a school. Educational leaders provide a water source and a rich soul for those plants to grow wonderfully.

Ø  SOCIAL CULTURE/SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

The habits, conduct, relationships, social structures, and achievements of school employees and members are referred to as social culture in school. Despite its relevance, understanding how culture influences educational content and procedures have gotten little attention. School leaders must create learning, teaching, socializing, and personality development-friendly school culture.

A healthy school environment honors diversity. School leaders use diversity to add colors to the school performance. School leaders provide steps for the beautification of school facilities. Moreover, school leaders build unity among their members. A desirable ambiance for the school environment will motivate all its stockholders.

Aside from the four mentioned beneficiaries, educational leadership also benefits the parents and the country. Educational leadership is more than attending the regular job and fulfilling the common plans presented by most schools. It is a matter of creativity, accountability, and durability.

English: A Symbol for Promoting Exemptional Techniques

and Expertise

Gielaine M. Licuanan

licuanangielaine@gmail.com

According to an article written by Josephine Marinas on March 2, 2021, the Philippines is one of the countries which has a larger number of citizens who spoke English proficiently. Furthermore, EF English Proficiency Index 2017 revealed that among the 80 countries, the Philippines is in the rank 15th.

The American colonization in the Philippines opens the window of using their language as well. Even we are Filipinos, English is widely used in several sectors of our nation. As the best illustration, schools, and universities all over the Philippine archipelago are using English in most of their subjects. The Philippine educational system which comprises the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is committed to providing caliber education among the Filipinos to produce globally competitive professionals.  With that, they are fostering a solidified English-proficient country. Their initiative was further supported by the fact that learning English is the key for international businesses. Who will say no to an opportunity for a transnational job?  English is mostly used in most countries and is the standard language when it comes to international matters. Globally competitive refers to the competence of an individual that meets international standards. The ability to speak English is a great edge for anyone to successfully be part of an international corporation. Hence, we can say that learning English is a wisdom and a door for the sky's limit opportunities.

Aside from the fact that English is the main medium for most of the subjects taught in school, there is a separate subject that focuses only on learning English. It hones the various skills of the students from reading skills, writing skills, listening skills, and speaking skills.

English has only spelled in seven letters, but it offers a lot of opportunities ranging from the national level to the transnational stage. As Steven Pinker says, "The Language we use influences the way we think." During the Covid 19 pandemic where hindrances in pursuing education are too many to list, the teachers and students must think like an English subject. English literacy can put someone out of their comfort zone. Hence, teachers and students must think of out-of-the-box ways to survive this pandemic.

Leader vs Being a Leader in Leadership

Trizia Rancel S. Mamucod

Administrative Assistant II

Namabalan National High School

Leaders and leadership, are they synonymous?

Most of the time, the word leader is associated with leadership because who would want to be a leader without skills in leadership, right? However, as time goes by the differences between the two can be clearly seen. So, let me ask you are you being a leader or just a leader? How does these two relate to leadership?

A “leader” is just a term used to describe a position of someone who holds the highest position in an organization. In the school setting, this commonly refers to principals and supervisors. On the other hand, being a leader means that an individual must take an action for the betterment of his people and has the initiative to serve others with respect to his goals and vision.

It is easy to appoint a school leader because anyone who has the credentials can do it. It is often based on the achievements and degree of learning that anyone who has those can qualify to apply for the position. However, what sets a school leader from just a leader lies on embodying the position itself. Doing leadership actions or holding a leadership position does not make one a leader. There are times that leaders do their jobs half-heartedly. As a result, the organization falls apart and go different ways. So, what actions can a true leader do to accept the position in their hearts and minds?

Oftentimes, it is you inside that makes you a leader. The tips, guides, and skills that you can learn from the internet, books, and experiences are just bonus points that can pull you to the top. To have a school leader position is leadership, but to have a mental authority is being a leader. This simply means that when you became a school leader, the responsibilities and duties will always be there and is automatically appointed to you. In contrary, if you have the mental authority to think and to condition yourself in these duties, then that is being a leader. Leaders do not just delegate jobs to its members. Managing them should be the priority thus, a leader’s presence should always be with each one of them. Leadership is casting a vision whereas being a visionary lead to a road of attaining the position of being a true leader.

Always be mindful that it is always better to be a leader who work toward the desired result because in that case, people will join you and will trust you.

Impact of ICT to Educators Under Information Age

Thrystan Rel D. Mabutol

Tarlac City

The Information Age, often known as the Computer Age, has arrived in the modern period. The people of the Digital Age rely solely on technology to carry out their daily jobs. Anyone who is computer literate will have an advantage. Apart from the physical world, the majority of people have begun to develop and participate in a new environment known as cyberspace. People benefit and are hampered by the existence of cyberspace. The slow operation in the real environment grew faster in cyberspace. It does not necessitate a lot of effort. Furthermore, it is less costly and time-consuming. Because of the things that cyberspace can do, the possibilities were maximized. In comparison to the real world, however, cyberspace has insufficient security. It does not have an army to protect its users from cybercrime. Hence, victims of cybercrime are constantly increasing.

Computer literacy has now become a lifesaver in a variety of industries, including educational institutions. Because of the impacts of the Covid 19 epidemic, most countries' education systems have transitioned from traditional to flexible learning. Online classes or modular distance learning are two options for flexible learning. In the new normal setup, one of the problems for both students and teachers is to continue to obtain quality education through the virtual world.

Even in a traditional classroom setting, 21st-century teachers incorporate technology into their teaching methods. These digitalized educational resources are more effective and appealing than traditional methods. For their discussions, traditional teachers use manila papers. Due to the computers and other gadgets, they can now use different apps like PowerPoint, and Canva where they can still customize their designs.

Computer literacy is extremely important in the realm of education. As a result, the Department of Education established an Information and Communication Technologies discipline (ICT). ICT wants to educate a larger audience about correct device and internet usage etiquette. As a result, a teacher of ICT must be well-versed in the teachings and material relevant to his or her subject. Furthermore, ICT helped not only pupils and ICT teachers but all teachers in the twenty-first century.

Teachers can benefit from ICT in both pre-service and in-service teacher training. Word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other tools are employed. To assist teachers in their practice teaching, a variety of technology-based programs are used. ICT is utilized as an "assistance tool" for completing assignments, communicating, and gathering data and documentation, for example. Institutions are increasingly using information and communication technology (ICT) to organize and manage their operations.

It can be found in a variety of places, including drill and practice activities, simulations, and educational networks. Teachers must provide technical support for students to learn through the use of motion pictures, animation, and simulation training that assisted student teachers in giving model presentations.

Regine Il M. Tolorio

Administrative Assistant III

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”

SCHOOL LEADERS: SUPERMAN AND SUPERWOMAN OF DYNAMISM

Shan Lorraine P. Magaoay

Pura, Tarlac

The importance of education in a child's life cannot be overstated. Teachers have a significant impact on a student's ability to succeed in the classroom. Teachers are entrusted with guiding students and their parents through their education. But who is there to help a teacher succeed in the classroom? In schools, principals and instructors perform critical roles. A positive relationship between school administrators and teachers is required and plays a vital role in school improvement. It is the principal's role to set the tone in the building. The school vision sets the tone for the rest of the year. A principal can incorporate the structures needed to establish a strong school culture, provide/support an effective instructional program, use best practices to assist student learning and work toward developing professional growth plans from the vision for the facility.

Embracing changes is a part of a routine for school management nowadays. The emerging success of different styles of management inspires other leaders and principals to inhabit that change and apply it to their own and tweaking it to suit their style. But how is the culture of change and leadership in principals connected?

The structure that supports teaching and learning to lead good changes in schools is known as leading in a culture of change. Leaders must have a moral purpose for they will catalyze change. To establish and share duties, the leader must grasp the process of change, connection building, and knowledge. Moreover, to lead complicated changes in education in the twenty-first century, the direction is critical in the transition process. As a result, all students will be productive, inspired, encouraged, and challenged as they pursue education to participate in the global society and become valuable citizens, as the purpose, vision, and values are visible across the society and the school will be an innovative model for excellence where values reflect the educational organization's and educators' desired outcomes and standards of behavior.

Lastly, to work and cope with the management changes. Principals must overcome their barriers with their constituents. This means that everyone in the school ecosystem, including instructors, students, and parents, must participate for it to be effective. The rule of the principal should not be absolute for a democratic educational community must promote free-flowing dialogue, ideas, and critical thinking. As they study skills and information, students and teachers must develop the ability to work actively with issues, ideas, materials, and other people. Within the limitations set by the school itself, they should be able to make an increasing number of decisions, both individually and in groups.

It’s all about what is hidden: Requisites of Ideal Educational Management

Mary Grace Bungay

Without significant investment in human capital, no country can achieve long-term economic progress. People's understanding of themselves and the world improves as a result of education. Moreover, education increases the productivity and creativity of people through several advancements. Individuals and society benefit from it in a variety of ways. Providing an accessible and quality education is tantamount to maximizing the investment in human capital for education is the main and broad production of professionals that will transform poverty into prosperity.

Education requires a well-organized and mandated management system. Hence understanding and incorporating the Educational Management Information System (EMIS) can create a huge difference to a school.

Educational Management Information System (EMIS) may be construed as an integrated technology framework that automates the whole end-to-end management of education and its related information. Education leaders can use management information systems to help them make strategic, tactical, and operational choices. Improved decision-making about the volume and allocation of public funding, the best way to reach the most vulnerable children, staff recruitment, training and quality, and adherence to standards can all be achieved as a result of this.

EMIS requires the mnemonic PPT that stands for People, Process. and Technology. People are those school staffs and members that are the main beneficiary of the success of a school. On the other hand, they are also the ones who work together to achieve the set school goals. Process refers to the entire operation of the school such as the financial, academic, and non-academic aspects of the school.  Moreover, Technology stands for advancement as a cure to endless changes and demands. The seasons change in a blink of an eye. As an illustration, in the information age and pandemic context, technology saves education.

There are parts in EMIS that must be secured. Financing, staffing, infrastructure, and facilities for the students, learning achievements for the students, institution details, tracer data following a study, and instructional materials are all examples of these. The budget is one of the requirements for a school to operate continuously and smoothly. Plans will remain wishes without a budget, and no progress will be made. The staff, such as teachers, will then carry out the school's core agenda, which is "Educating." It is essential to have adequate infrastructure and facilities to create a learner-friendly atmosphere. Well-maintained facilities and infrastructure as well as the materials are proven a great influencer of student performance. Of course, a school will never be a school without the students. As a result, student concerns must be considered and addressed. The reality of "learning" is one of the major issues in education. A student attends school to learn. As a result, teachers must ensure that each lesson is ingrained in the students' minds.

EMIS adds value to the three levels of decision-making through four unique, but interconnected educational processes: management and administration, planning, policy formulation, monitoring, and evaluation, and monitoring and evaluation.

Selecting the Suitable Approach for Educational Management for Academic Sustainability and Better Outcomes

Marjorie Joy S. Ordonio

Unstoppable and unbreakable sustainability is essential to all schools. It reflects all their hard work and efforts. As you will notice, each school have their mission, vision, objectives, and policies. Their differences in one another create their identity. The diversity in schools’ management is due to the different approaches in educational management. Here are some of the types of educational management.

In centralized educational management, the Director of Higher Education is the true executive leader in the sphere of higher education. He or she retains all of the authorities and responsibilities. However, in the present educational system, this form of educational management is outmoded and ineffective. The reason for this is that it was prevalent during a time when kings and emperors viewed education growth as a humanitarian endeavor.

The rights and responsibilities are distributed and decentralized from the Director of Higher Education to the peon of a college in decentralized educational management. Everyone participating in higher education takes the duty of educational management seriously. At the same time, they run the risk of not succeeding in educational management.

Those aspects, variables, and supporting organizations that give chances and facilities for the seamless management of educational programs from an external perspective are referred to as External Management of Educational Programs. Internal management refers to the management of any educational program that is vested in those who are actively and internally involved in its management.

Authoritarian management, like centralized management, plays a function. The rights are absolute and ultimate in this management, and educational management is a monopoly state. It suggests that one central agency is in charge of all policies and programs. The focal agency in this case could be a single individual or a "core group" of people. Everyone who is more or less involved in the process should partake in the effort under democratic educational management. Every person should have the freedom to carry out their responsibilities in their jurisdiction. This will result in successful educational management of every educational program from a democratic standpoint.

Uniqueness is the focal point of this educational management. It suggests that a school administrator must think of an out-of-box and effective strategy to further manage the school.

It means that everyone should be allowed as much freedom as possible and practicable to ensure proper management of educational programs, and they must exercise this freedom desirably and acceptably.

Whatever styles and approaches a school incorporate, what counts more is the outcomes. With that, choose wisely and implement them efficiently.

The Answer to all Stereotypes that Centralized Approach Faces

Michelle P. Ganzon

Paniqui, Tarlac

Centralized educational management seems to be the last option of most schools. The disadvantages it can give trigger the educational leaders to not use this method. Some say a centralized approach causes job delays because only the educational leaders make decisions. School staff and members are expected to carry out whatever task has been assigned to them, and they lack independent decision-making authority. As a result of mechanical work's mental reservation, there is no loyalty or appeal in either job or organization. In a centralized system, secrecy is impossible to preserve because commands and decisions flow from one location to everyone. Decision-making abilities are preserved in the head office in a centralized organization, and all subordinate offices receive directives from the main office. This type of educational administration is obsolete and ineffectual in today's educational system. As a result, it was common during a time when monarchs and emperors saw education as a humanitarian activity. However, this article will prove that those downsides can be the cure and centralized educational management will lead you to academic success.

Because everyone within the school knows who to report to, a centralized organization benefits from a clear chain of command. Delegating authority to staff who excel in specialized activities is a clear strategy used by school leaders. When an organization wants to make choices swiftly and cohesively, this is advantageous.

The smooth implementation of the organization's visions and strategies is made possible by directing the organization's vision from the top. Without centralized administration, the message will be relayed inconsistently to employees since there are no defined lines of power. Students, teachers, parents, and other school staff are among the organization's stakeholders who receive a consistent message and benefits from the educational institution.

It helps to cut office and administrative costs when a centralized organization follows standard procedures and practices that guide it. Because the company's major decision-makers are based at its head office or educational leaders, there is no need to expand departments or equipment to other locations. On the part of the educational leader, critical choices are taken, which are subsequently transmitted to the other school staff.

Because they can debate the intricacies of each decision in one meeting, having only a few people involved makes the decision-making process more efficient. The utilization of modern equipment helps to eliminate possible waste from the traditional method of education while also ensuring high-quality performance.

Decisions made by the school administrator will be carried out to the entire school. By developing similar policies and programs, centralized management will make it easier to integrate activities. The school leaders will have complete control and responsibility for the administration of the school. As a result, swift decisions and creative actions will be made. If urgent efforts are not taken, the existence of small-scale units can be jeopardized.

The Entitled Servants in Educational Field

Ramirez, Gina C.

Educational leadership will never make a leader more of a boss. Rather, it will make them more of a servant.

To influence its performance and help its stakeholders achieve their personal and organizational goals, a school's educational management is a methodical procedure in which it leverages all of its resources. Educational administration must be carried out with the collaboration of all school personnel. Educational leaders were appointed by each school to avoid disagreements and further direct the entire process.

The word leader is frequently associated with leadership since nobody wants to be a leader without leadership qualities. Eventually, the contrasts between the two become evident. Being a leader entails taking action for the welfare of one's people and taking the initiative to help others follow one's aims and vision. This is a term used to describe a position in which the top position in an organization is held by a "leader." Leaders sometimes conduct their jobs half-heartedly.

As a result, the organization disintegrates and diverges. Being a leader is not the same as having a school leader job, but having a mental authority is. Leaders do more than merely distribute tasks to their followers. Because managing them should be a top concern, a leader should always be present with each of them.

Principals do not just appear out of thin air; they are raised shapeless and require molding. A combination of the proper personal attributes and the correct leadership training results in dynamic and exceptional leadership.

One of the most important leadership training topics for schools is knowing when to delegate and standing by your delegation. P2P training may bridge the gap between the principals and their staff, resulting in increased efficiency and trust. Webinars are the most popular due to the epidemic, and it is tough for leaders to organize a clear meeting since barriers such as connections and devices might be a hurdle.

A school administrator must be a leader by action and not by title. School leaders must have their checklist to assess if there is progress occur due to their management style. The school ambiance tells something about the performance of the school as well as the leaders handling it. The staff must be trained to be welcoming and professional. Systems and operations in school must also be solid and available for both students and teachers.

Students and staff are visibly having fun in the school, which is strong evidence of school leadership effectiveness. The tenor and tone of the facility take on a lighter and more constructive sense when staff and students are prepared to smile and laugh with one another.

Educational management efficiency is vivid through the inside and outside point of view of the school.

TRANSPARENCY, A KEY TO DEPED VERSION 2.0?

CERELINA G. REGIS

Administrative Assistant II

DepEd-Tarlac Province

“Transparency is the new objectivity” – David Weinberger

The Philippines is a Third World country that is far from the level of prosperity obtained by the developed countries. The Philippines' buildings and highways need to be improved to make travel safer. Once era, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was dubbed the "Worst" airport in the world. Despite the large number of internet users in the Philippines, the country's internet connection is extremely slow. Unlike in other countries, education in our country is today a privilege rather than a right. The school is only accessible to those who can afford it. Because of poverty, most young Filipino citizens are forced to work to support their families rather than wearing school uniforms and attending school. This fact made us realized that the change we desired was not yet in our hands since we lacked competent citizens due to inequitable access to free education.

Only public schools are eligible for free education. The worst aspect is that in most public schools, the situation is characterized by a shortage of school infrastructure, teaching materials, and staff. In comparison to other nations, Filipino teachers have more responsibilities, according to a poll performed by the Global Economy, with each teacher in our country handling 29 to 30 kids. This figure is higher than the global average teacher-to-student ratio.

Despite the educational deficiency that exists in the Philippines, graft, fraud, and corruption are also present. There are several concerns, reasons, and discussions that have evolved that raise doubts about education funding distribution.

In a news posted In The Post on January 8, 2021, Department of Education released and announced new memorandum stating that transparency together with accountability will serve as the core drive of revised signing authorities for administrative and financial matters.

The new DepEd order complies with the Republic Act 11032. As part of the department's financial management and procurement reform initiatives, the revisions to the original policies will rationalize the delineation of responsibilities in DepEd by improving the structure for delegation of authority and ensuring the standard implementation of rules and processes. Furthermore, it is intended and executed to improve DepEd's administrative and financial processes.

According to Leonor Briones, Education Secretary, the directive strives to enhance transparency, integrity, and accountability in government service, including what DepEd offers. Financial administration will be more constrained as a result of this DepEd decision. Additionally, it protects DepEd's financial resources from bribery and corruption. Furthermore, enforcing transparency in DepEd administration will ensure that finances are properly allocated and managed to improve the country's education quality.

One of the fundamental operations that acts as the lifeblood of DepEd is financial management. The complete human body will live a healthy life if the blood flows freely without clogging and receives adequate nutrients. Similarly, if financial resources are effectively allocated without corruption and bribery, more students will achieve their goals and more dreams would be attained.

PRACTICE PERFECTION AND YOU’LL ACHIEVE IT: BEST PRACTICES IN ENSURING A QUALITY EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT

RUBY ANN L. FACUN

“Every school needs to have a management or a system that help to create the conditions for the teachers, staffs, and students to work effectively together.”

The importance of having a stable and sustainable educational management especially in the Department of Education is to provide simple and clear goals to effectively communicate them to everyone. With that, they ensure room for growth and consistency in approach and actions across all the school grounds. However, this will not be possible without having practices that commit to the desired goal. Goals without proper actions will remain words and no result. Thus, implementing such habits will eventually lead education to a better place.

Maximizing the utilization of available resources provides a good condition for the administration because it ensures efficiency and effectiveness. This results in a more achievable educational goal. In addition, the Department of Education has a lot of curriculums hence the allocation of funds must be used the right way. This includes the financial resources, the equipment, the facilities, the labor, and a lot more.

Aside from maximizing the resources, it is also necessary for educational management to stay proactive. Being proactive in the educational setting means that before the current one concludes, make sure that the next instructional activity is ready and set up. Having done that reduces the amount of disruption between activities and the administration. Also, this is to encourage everyone to a continuous cycle and engaging management.

On the other hand, encouraging a communicative workplace allows the management to be open to constructive criticism and spread positivity because having communication with the members of the organization will be the key to triumphant management. Because it is believed that everyone working together as one leads to the top of the victory.

Lastly, being a role model to other educational organizations is probably one of the most satisfying parts one can achieve because it strives to unleash one’s potential and overcome people’s weaknesses. Being a role model pushes people to make the most out of the job and is a must-have for improvement for they encourage a standard to achieve the other’s goals and vision.

Leaders of any school from the Department of Education have the responsibility to try to evolve and better their management practices. If the leader remains stagnant in their strategies, they risk ignoring the latest needs of their people, hence, always continue to think in innovative ways and towards the future.

WHY TO CHOOSE SKILL-BASED COURSES

PRECILLA G. CAISIP

Knowing something does not imply that you are skilled at it. Reading, listening, and watching to gather the information needed before moving on to the next level of learning is known as knowledge-based learning. Skill-based learning strives to expand knowledge by fostering practical experience in a specific field. This blend of knowledge-and skills-based instruction will aid in the development of autonomous thinkers.

For a variety of reasons, skills-based education such as Edukasyong Pantahanan and Pangkabuhayan (EPP) is critical. It enables students to think more critically and solve problems independently. When students have different ways of absorbing information, they learn faster. A skill-based approach can help them build on what they already know.

Students take responsibility for their learning through skills-based education, which helps them close the knowledge gap. Students should also keep in mind that, post-COVID, the need for work prospects in the skill-based sector will increase.

Collaboration has been one of the top three most in-demand soft skills for two consecutive years, as per LinkedIn. Working in a collaborative environment also sharpens the ability to listen to others, organize, inspire, and attain leadership qualities in the process. Engaging with professionals in their network helps them to define the impact of their career interests. It further motivates them to put their skills to use in the world around them. Students get a chance to work closely with and interact with like-minded aspirants from the respective fields.

This enables the students to gain real-life skills and helps them to increase their self-confidence while working in a team. Several years ago, finding a niche required a set number of degrees and certificates, to be sure. Today, one can explore options across industry verticals in no time, transforming it into a more engaging environment.

A skill-based approach can help students learn concepts more quickly while also reinforcing what they already know. Students are encouraged to think and collaborate just as much as they are taught to be independent. When students have many learning options, their learning speed increases automatically.

Being able to tackle the problems of everyday life requires the development of life skills. Executive function and decision-making skills, unlike motor skills and fundamental intelligence, are acquired rather than innate. Children's life skills teach them vital life skills like independent thinking and how to socialize and make new friends.

In the modern era, it's more important to apply what you've learned in the classroom to real-life problems than it is to have a university degree. Practical skills are rarely given the time and attention they deserve.

INEXPENSIVE COURSE BUT PROVIDES LUXURIOUS BENEFITS

Regardless of age or gender, the Edukasyong Pantahan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) provides a set of skills and a source of income. The students are like their own artists when it comes to putting their EPP training to good use. The vibrant stories of students looking for work at their age are like beautiful works of art. Edukasyong Pantahan at Pangkabuhayan is a life-related subject. The integration of real-life experiences and the development of good communication abilities are aided by skill-based learning. Unlike academic subjects that require a college diploma to get a job, skill-based subjects like EPP will have limitless work options even if you do not have a college certificate.

Knowledge-based learning strives to enhance knowledge by cultivating practical experience in a certain profession. Knowing something does not guarantee you are skilled at it. Students who get skills-based education, such as Edukasyong Pantahanan and Pangkabuhayan (EPP), are better able to think critically and solve issues on their own. Working in a team atmosphere also improves one's capacity to listen, organize, motivate, and lead. In today's world, having a university degree is less significant than being able to apply what you've learned in the classroom to real-world challenges. Unlike motor skills and foundational intellect, executive function and decision-making skills are learned rather than innate. Students are trained to be independent, but they are also pushed to think and collaborate.

All Filipino students are required to take Edukasyong Pantahan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP). Its goal is to instill a sense of accountability, efficiency, dependability, passion, and excellence among employees. It motivates youngsters to assist their parents with domestic duties and perhaps earn money as a result of their efforts. In the event of a pandemic, skills learned in the EPP curriculum can provide income to the students' entire families. Education can be a waste of money at times, especially when the results are not obvious.

Students will be able to master various cooking techniques without having to attend a culinary school through EPP. It will also help their students become responsible citizens. Because they work hard to achieve their own goals, they enjoy a meaningful life.

Edukasyong Pantahan at Pangkabuhayan is a skill-based topic typically taught in primary schools. Students acquire the principles of responsibility and gain knowledge that they may apply both inside and outside of the classroom. The COVID-19 epidemic has had a variety of harmful consequences for society. There are strong individuals who have managed to develop their own business identity amidst the chaos. The EPP subject functions as a flashlight, illuminating for most people what practical decisions and activities they will take to avoid the darkness of COVID-19's effects. It allows people to work productively from the comfort of their own homes.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF SOME INDUSTRIES DUE TO COVID 19

KAITHLENE MAY GRAGASIN SOBERANO

Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a significant loss of human life around the world, and it poses an unprecedented threat to public health, food systems, and the workplace. Hundreds of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, and the number of people who are undernourished might rise to 132 million by the end of the year. Workers in the informal economy are particularly vulnerable due to a lack of social protection and proper health care.

Millions of waged and self-employed agricultural laborers are constantly subjected to high levels of working poverty, hunger, and bad health, as well as a lack of safety and labor protection. There are a lot of agricultural laborers in the Philippines. Agricultural laborers are particularly vulnerable because they face dangers in their transportation, working, and living situations, as well as a lack of access to government-sponsored assistance.

On the brighter side, the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of telemedicine and e-commerce, increased pressure on nurses, and complicated business operations. By addressing the interrelationships between climate, healthcare, labor needs, digitization, inequality, and economic development, leaders may construct a resilience agenda. Companies need a clear, complete picture of service processes as they look for areas to automate. Approach insights is a three-stage process that combines technology tools and analytics. Despite rising consumer confidence, isolated COVID-19 breakouts have hampered travel demand.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a global health and humanitarian issue that puts millions of people's food security and nutrition at risk. Hundreds of millions of people were already hungry and malnourished before the virus struck, and unless fast action is taken, there might be a global food crisis. The global pandemic had a wide range of effects on nutrition quality and food security from country to country. The timing, duration, and stringency of national COVID-19 limitation measures and programs to minimize their negative effects are all factors that contribute to this range. Food insecurity is especially likely to affect women and people with low socioeconomic status. Social safety nets can help protect them and should be built as soon as possible.

It will be important to ensure everyone's safety and health in order to save lives and protect public health, livelihoods, and food security. Now is the time for global solidarity and assistance, particularly for the most vulnerable members of our society, especially in rising and developing countries. To address the difficulties arising from the health crisis, we need to build long-term, sustainable plans. Priority should be given to addressing the root causes of issues caused by the pandemic, such as job loss, food insecurity, and malnutrition. We must reimagine our environment's future and act quickly to address climate change and environmental deterioration.
